Milingimbi artists will be recognised at the Art Gallery of New South Wales this summer.

Back in the 1950s, a group of artists based on the island of Milingimbi, just off Arnhem Land, produced exquisite art that captured the essence of the land, sea and sky.

Now, this new exhibition will reflect the importance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art. Curator Cara Pinchbeck has worked closely in conjunction with Milingimbi elders to identify and classify pieces and give the community the chance to reclaim their culture and pass it on to future generations.

Check out AGNSW from Saturday November 12 until Sunday January 29.
