Meet The Young Artists Turning Pain Into Painting For Mission Australia
More than 100 artworks by 12 young artists as part of Mission Australia's Creative Youth Initiatives Artworks! program are set to go on display at a public exhibition and sale at Paddington’s Kudos Gallery.
The artists, aged between 16 and 25, have collectively spent over 3,500 hours putting the collection together and have produced a quirky, diverse body of work which includes tender charcoal portraits, psychedelic street art and anthropomorphic watercolours.
The program gives young people struggling with mental illness, substance abuse, bullying and other complex issues an outlet for expression and a place to heal by tapping into their creative talents. Art becomes a tool for change in their lives, says program manager Diana Jazic.
The exhibition/sale will be held at Kudos Gallery from Tuesday November 22 to Saturday November 26. Call (02) 9356 8897 for more info.
