I’ve never given much thought to how I would die, but dying knowing that I’ve witnessed Robert Pattinson star in a Batman film, seems like a good way to go.

Variety has reported that Robert Pattinson is in final negotiations to play Batman in Matt Reeves’ forthcoming superhero flick. The film is set to hit theatres on June 25, 2021.

Matt Reeves worked on the last two Planet of the Apes sequels. He took over Ben Affleck for the role of Batman director in January 2017 and has been working on the project since.

Whilst Pattinson carved his path as a dreamboat in Harry Potter and The Twilight Saga, over the years he has cemented himself as an art-house favourite. Pattinson has recently cut his teeth starring in the critically-lauded High Life, and Good Time.

Whilst we all deserve a Robert Pattinson-led Batman flick, we can’t put all our eggs in this one basket. As Deadline reports, fellow British actor Nicolas Hoult (Skins, About A Boy) is also in talks to play the caped crusader.

In related news, Robert Pattinson recently delved into the influence of the Twilight soundtrack. “It genuinely does have an incredibly good soundtrack,” Pattinson shared. “I completely forgot, but the soundtracks were quite ahead of their time.”

Pattinson, who was famous for his apathy towards the saga during its peak, has admitted that he has now come around to it. “It seems like with younger people in their late teens, early 20s, it’s sort of become quite a hip thing to like,” he shared. “It’s a fascinating second wave of people appreciating it, which is kind of cool. I think when anything becomes a massive phenomenon, there’s always people who get annoyed because it’s just everywhere. But now it seems like a retro thing: the soundtrack, the fashion. It’s like, ‘Oh, that’s so late 2000s.’”
