A GoFundMe campaign has raised over $5,000 in less than 24 hours, in order to fly a rainbow flag in the Sydney skies.

The plan was originally to spray ‘VOTE YES’ into the sky, as a peaceful counter action to the ‘VOTE NO’ message that was tagged in the air on the weekend.

Interestingly, this plan has now changed due to the only skywriting business in Sydney being owned by active members of the Australian Christian Lobby, which certainly explains the weekend’s negative message. Instead, a massive rainbow flag will be flown behind a helicopter, thanks to aerial banner advertising firm Remarkable Media.

“It’s time for Australian’s to take a stand!” the campaign page explains. “We have been bullied into silence, condemned for our views and ignored and vilified by the media. Enough is enough! It’s time we all sent a clear message that we will not put up with our way of life been discriminated any further!”

While the page has more than met its funding target, you should still considering donating as they’ll also be donating funds to a LGBTQIA+ charity that helps struggling kids.
