Craig Silvey’s exceptionally well recieved bildungsroman is being transformed into a play.

The novel Jasper Jones‘ transition into theatre was perhaps not exactly destined, but it does make a lot of sense: there’s a kind of raw, unpretentious honesty to the text that will suit the confines of the Belvoir perfectly.

Just as excitingly, the project marks the second collaboration between writer Kate Mulvany and celebrateddirectorAnne-Louise Sarks. The pair already joined forces on the stunningMedeaback in 2012,so seeing their creative forces combined again is an exciting prospect indeed.

Tom Conroy andAlfie Gledhill will take lead roles, with Mulvany herself rounding out the cast. If all those early indicators are anything to go by,Jasper Jones is set to be a stunner.

Jasper Jones will run from Saturday January 2 through to Sunday February 7. Tickets are available from Belvoir’s website.
