When the students at Newtown High School of the Performing Arts were promised a masterclass from a special guest, they weren’t expecting this.

On Tuesday November 22, superstar performer Justin Timberlake took time out from promoting his latest animated feature, Dreamworks Animation’sTrolls, to drop in on the local talent.

“This is a treat for me,” Timberlake said, sitting among the huddle of stunned teenagers and watching attentively as they showcased their own burgeoning talents.

The Newtown students gave him their all, impressing Timberlake to the point where he referred to a song by young singer/guitarist Fergus Lupton as “awesome”, saying “Your voice is really special. I’d put that on the radio now, honestly.”

Before departing, the star left the up-and-comers with some humble advice from his stellar career.

“The only thing I would tell you is stay curious, continue to ask questions, and the most important one is how does it feel?” he said.

“You guys are really special, this was awesome for me.”

Justin Timberlake’s lastest film Trollsis in cinemas now.
