In 1995, video game company Capcom released a video game called Street Fighter: The Movie, which was a video game, based on a movie, which was based on a video game.

It’s enough to twist your melon if you really think about it for too long, which can also be said for the forthcoming Etsy Community Market, which will take the concept of Etsy — an online market place that aims to replicate the experience of going to a local community market — and turn it into an actual community market.

Sydney Made will be bringing Sydney’s best creatives together, with over 70 markets setting up shop at Brewery Yard in Central Park (not the one from Friends near that coffee shop, the one on Broadway. Not the Broadway where you saw Friends: The Musical, either).

One of the best things about Etsy is the feeling you are buying products directly from the actual creator, and here you won’t even have the twin burdens of technology and distance separating you. You can actually hug the very person who knitted your unofficial Sydney Kings phone-holder/warmer, although sometimes ‘can’ and ‘should’ have very different meanings. Hug carefully.

The Etsy Community Market happens at Brewery Yard in Central Park on Saturday, July 29, from 10am to 3pm.

The official page promises “native insect hotels” will be available to purchase at one of the stalls, too, which isn’t something you read too often.

While the event is free, you are encouraged to book tickets, which you can do right here.
