In an effort to amp up Sydney’s live music scene, World Square will launch Friday Beats throughout May.

It’s set to showcase some of Australia and Japan’s best new musicians, with a variety of buskers, triple j unearthed acts and local DJs.

Precint manager for World Square, Ben Davis, said, “Live music has been seriously lacking around Sydney of late, we want to amp up the square and provide an atmosphere where people can enjoy a drink while listening to some of the best buskers around Sydney.”

Each Friday will see artists playing from 12-2pm in the afternoon, and DJs from 5-7pm in the evening. Over the four weeks you can catch triple j unearthed star Jess Dunbar (pictured) as well as Japanese sounding May Music and local busker Jackman Friday.

Friday Beats kicks off in World Square on Friday, May 2. The full schedule is available from the World Square website. It’s completely free.
