Thanks to Stanford University’s Cantor Arts Centre and Stanford Libraries, the public can now view an astronomical number of original Andy Warhol images online.

The Warhol Photo Archive contains over 3,600+ contact sheets, equating to approximately 130,000 individual images. There are photos of everything from discos, business associates and flea markets to celebrities, boyfriends and wrestling matches.

The collection is essentially a documentation of Warhol’s daily life from 1976 to his death in 1987.

“A picture means I know where I was every minute. That’s why I take pictures. It’s a visual diary.” – Andy Warhol

Sandra Feder for Stanford News writes that “[the archive] is the most complete collection of the artist’s black-and-white photography ever made available to the public.”
