Oh Ellen, it really is a slippery slope. After the world discovered that the darling of daytime wasn’t all that wholesome, The Ellen DeGeneres Show was given its marching orders.

Its 19th and final season kicked off last month and judging by Leah Remini’s new appearance on the show, it’s really on its last legs.

The King of Queens actress called out the host for not being interested in what she was saying. Remini was convinced that she was attempting to scare her midway through her interview and said, “You’re acting really interested. So, like, I don’t know if you’re doing that thing where you’re, like, into my story.”

“I’m always interested!” Ellen fired back. Remini then playfully slapped the host and while this encounter might have been mostly in jest, it was still rather awkward.

And awkward encounters has become Ellen’s signature over the years. Take a look below at some other truly uncomfortable The Ellen DeGeneres Show interviews.

Taylor Swift

In 2013, Ellen was admonished by the singing superstar for calling Zac Efron her boyfriend. Swift was quick to correct the host, telling her that they weren’t an item, but Ellen plowed on regardless, counting to refer to Efron as her boyfriend.

She also pestered the star to reveal who exactly her song ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’ was about, which Swift didn’t seem to enjoy.

Katy Perry

How could anyone forget that Katy Perry and Russell Brand were a thing? It’s just such a ludicrous celebrity couple. That’s exactly what Ellen did though: when the singer returned to her show in 2017, she forgot that Perry had ever been married.

Perry told the host that she was married to Brand once before awkwardly reminding Ellen that she actually gave her a wedding gift on a previous episode. I know you played the forgetful Dory, Ellen, but that’s a bit much.

Dakota Johnson

The one that started her downfall. The Ground Zero of Ellen awkwardness. This one’s genuinely hard to get through. When Johnson appeared on the show in late 2018, Ellen asked why she didn’t get an invite to Johnson’s birthday party.

Visibly seething, the actress retaliated. “Actually no that’s not the truth, Ellen, you were invited,” she said icily. The awkwardness wasn’t done there, with Johnson adding, “I didn’t even know you liked me.” A shiver just went down my spine.

Justin Bieber

It feels weird to be on the side of Bieber. The young singer appeared on the show where she proceeded to show him paparazzi photos of himself nude on vacation. She asked if the woman from the photos was Bieber’s girlfriend.

He denied that they were a couple, clearly blushing at the awkwardness. Yet Ellen kept at it, berating the poor little guy with more questions about the mystery woman. Clearly a glutton for punishment, Bieber returned to see Ellen a few years later for some more uncomfortable antics.
