El Topo Basement at Bondi Junction will be hosting a massive ’90s party this Friday night, which they’ve titled ‘The Tamagotchi Party’ for reasons that should be obvious to anyone who read the headline to this story.
Basically, if you click ‘attending’ on the FB invite, and then happen to be one of the first 250 people to rock up at the party — which is free entry all night, doors at 9pm — you’ll get a free Tamagotchi. Need proof? Check out this photo.
That looks like one of those pill busts the cops do every now and then.
In addition, they (the El Topo, not the cops) will be serving Mega Warhead Cocktails (Side story: I once played soccer with a kid who would buy $1 worth of Mega Warheads, then unwrap them all, fill the sink in the change rooms with water, and soak/scrub the hot powder stuff off them, in one of the most pointless acts ever.) and Push Pop Cocktails, which both sound sickly sweet, but press all the correct nostalgia buttons. These are half price for the first few hours, too.
Then there is the music, which is obvious bangers from the ’90s, where “bangers” means “select Spice Girls, Coolio and Hanson hits”, no doubt.
