Abbie Chatfield went off on Brittany Hockley on Instagram yet again, calling the latter a ‘pick-me girl’ for slut shaming her.
Abbie Chatfield is still very much pissed off at Brittany Hockley and Kyle Sandilands for slut shaming her on air during a live interview.
ICYMI, American rapper Yung Gravy recently appeared on the Kyle and Jackie O show, where he revealed that he had an upcoming date with Abbie Chatfield. Sandilands and Hockley went on to mock and slut shame Chatfield, which incited backlash from not just fans, but also from Chatfield herself.
Hockley later released a statement on her Instagram apologising for her comments, but Chatfield dismissed her apology in a series of IG Stories. In her counter-statement, Chatfield claimed: “I don’t see an apology to me, I don’t see any understanding of why what she and Kyle did was wrong, or an explanation to her audience.
“I just see an excuse of live radio, then a self written character testimony, then a (tbh) fair reason why she didn’t see my DM, though we have messaged before,” Chatfield wrote.
Now, Chatfield has come back with a vengeance in a series of fresh stories, calling Hockley a ‘pick-me girl’ for not calling out Sandilands on air.
In stories posted to her account, Chatfield said: “Feminism and uplifting women isn’t about protecting individual women despite the fact they have tried to uphold patriarchy. This individual woman fucked up and upheld patriarchal standards. She has been putting down all women and all of those affected by the patriarchy.”
Claiming that she was ‘dismantling the patriarchy’ by calling Hockley out, Chatfield said: “That’s why ‘pick me’ girls as so disliked – because they are betraying their own gender.”
For those who haven’t been hanging out on the internet, ‘pick-me girl’ is a term used for women who put down other women or feminine things for social validation.
Chatfield went on to say: “Pick me’s are only focused on upholding patriarchal structures and laughing along with the boys and think it’s okay to make slut-shaming jokes or misogynistic jokes because they ‘aren’t like other girls. They give a pass to misogynistic men to treat women the way they do because they’re the ‘cool girl.’”
Chatfield then revealed that she’d reached out to Hockley proactively to give her a chance to apologise, but Hockley had never responded. “I also sent her a DM and gave her a chance to explain and say, ‘Listen, I’m so sorry. I freaked out. It’s a really hard gig and had a really hard time on this show,’ whatever. I would have probably left it at that, but she hasn’t responded [to] it.”
