Croquembye! The patisseries of Australia’s macaroon aficionado Adrian Zumbo have reportedly been placed into voluntary administration.

DW Advisory principals Justin Holzman and Anthony Elkerton were appointed voluntary administrators to three of Zumbo’s main businesses — that all operate under ‘The Zumbo Group’.

Zumbo’s eight patisseries in Sydney and Melbourne will continue to trade, as a statement by the current administrators confirms

We haven’t closed any stores down at this stage, we are still trading the business in all of the existing retail stores while we still assess the viability of the business.

We are hopeful that there will be able to be a restructure through a deed of company arrangement, we will be investigating the affairs of the company over the next couple of weeks.”

The company is reportedly up to $10 million in debt, yikes!
Zumbo shot to fame after multiple guest appearances on Masterchef Australia (the greatest show in the world). Introducing the Australian public to the ostentatious Christmas tree of choux pastry we now know as the ‘Croquembouche’.
