MAFS star Al Perkins, who took part in season nine of the experiment, has revealed that producers cut him off from alcohol twice at the show’s dinner parties.

“The producers and everyone on married side, they’re very responsible and they’re quite strict on, on how much [alcohol] you have. Cause they don’t want you slurring on TV or looking drunk or things like that. So they made sure that we were responsible on how much we drank,” he told The Brag.

Al added, “I do remember I was cut off twice, so I guess that’s production looking after me. I’m really happy they did cut me off.”

The reality star explained why producers cut participants off during the dinner party during a chat with Yahoo Lifestyle Australia and said that one night he was scrambling around to try and find more alcohol after he was cute off.

“As soon as they start hearing you slur your words or your eyes go red and glassy then they’ll be like, ‘All right, no more drinking for you’,” he said.

“I got cut off twice at the dinner parties, it was pretty bad,” he added. “But they’re pretty good. Even if you aren’t really drunk they stop serving you alcohol, and I remember scrambling around looking for any little bit of leftover drink to have because I was dying for a drink, especially with all the drama going on.”

Last year, MAFS alum Jessika Power revealed that she was the only person on her MAFS season allowed to drink spirits because producers knew she would create drama.

“So you drink at the dinner parties, they go for 13 hours by the way. So everyone got cut off except for me because [producers] knew that if I had a couple of drinks, and I was the only one who was allowed to drink spirits, I’d be like, ‘well, your husband told my husband this,” she said at the time.

“I’d just like well it’s the dinner party and there’s been no drama tonight so I’d be like ‘I remember your husband told Mick this and Mick told me this’.”
