Keep this news away from Bong Joon-ho, English-language remake rights to Thomas Vinterberg’s Oscar Winner Another Round have been sold.
As Deadline report, Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Davidsson’s production company Appian Way, Endeavor Content and Makeready won the auction for remake rights.

The drama explores four middle-aged teachers, who decide to combat the throes of a midlife crisis by experimenting with raising their blood alcohol levels. A deft and hilarious study of alcoholism, that avoids the trappings of anti-alcohol propaganda. Another Round delves into both the positive and negative consequences that drinking has on each character.
Leonardo DiCaprio has been tapped to fill the boots of the magnificent Mads Mikkelsen — whose role as Martin was one of the most effortlessly charming, joyous performances of the past year.
Whilst English-language remakes of films are no new concept, and are on the occasion, very good (Luca Guadagnino’s A Bigger Splash and Terry Gilliam’s 12 Monkeys come to mind). They also have the power to be very, very dogshit (think the atrocious American remake of the sublime The Intouchables, with The Upside.)

A writer and director have not been named for the U.S. production, though as IndieWire note, stakeholders intend on working quickly. The deal for an American adaption was set in motion in the days leading up to the Academy Awards. The ceremony saw director Thomas Vinterberg earn nominations for both Best Foreign Language Film and Best Director.
The evening saw Vinterberg give one of the most heartwrenching speeches of the ceremony, dedicating his win to his late daughter Ida, who died four days into fil,ing the movie.
“We wanted to make a film that celebrates life. Four days into shooting the impossible happens: an accident on a highway took my daughter away. Someone looking into a cell phone, and we miss her and I love her,” he said. “Two months before we shot this movie and two months before she died, she was in Africa. She’d just read the script and was glowing with excitement. She loved this. She said she felt seen by this… If anyone dares to believe that she’s here with us somehow, you’ll be able to see her clapping and cheering with us.”
