The food world has tragically lost its godfather and fearless mouthpiece. Anthony Bourdain had a foul mouth and an adventurer’s palette.
“It is with extraordinary sadness we can confirm the death of our friend and colleague, Anthony Bourdain,” CNN said in a statement Friday morning.
Bourdain made a name for himself as a young chef and writer after working tirelessly in kitchens and writing the disruptive memoir ‘Kitchen Confidential’. The book exposed the lives of chefs when they were hidden behind the pass and glamour of service. He told of late nights, long hours, alcoholism, drug abuse, and the deep love of flavour that fuels the industry.
He hosted numerous TV shows and in the last decade became synonymous for championing smaller local chefs and providors with unusual flavours.
