When she’s not killing it in a chess-themed Netflix hit show or anything that Robert Eggers makes, it turns out that Anya Taylor-Joy enjoys dining out at rather fancy restaurants.
Currently in Australia filming the hugely-anticipated Mad Max: Fury Road prequel Furiosa, the actress found time to be Vogue Australia‘s October cover star.
And she spent much of the accompanying interview gushing over her favourite Sydney hotspots, as per Pedestrian.TV. The beautiful Bronte beach got a nice mention, with Taylor-Joy expressing her love of the city’s beaches in general.
“There’s no distinction between the ocean and the pool,” she said. “And I’ve never been in a pool that has a current before, so it was rather enlightening.”
According to The Queen’s Gambit star, Sydney’s secret beach spots are all extremely friendly, but it almost definitely helps being the internet’s current favourite actress (sorry, Florence Pugh).
“If you see people in neighbouring houses, they just smile and wave at you, and semi-applaud you for getting in the water when it’s that cold,” she insisted. “There’s no, ‘You’re not supposed to be there!’ which I really like.”
As for her favourite Sydney restaurant, that honour went to Paddington joint Fred’s, a fancy farm-to-table restaurant that changes its menu everyday, which sounds like an almighty workload.

Furiosa will be the fifth film in the Mad Max franchise. George Miller is once again directing, while the film also stars Aussie icon Chris Hemsworth. Furiosa, which is set to be the biggest Australian film ever made, is due to be released in May 2024.
