A video has emerged on social media accusing Aussie retailer City Beach of reselling women’s clothing from online store Shein at over three times the price.

TikTok user @smashhoe posted the video, showing “only a few” of the Shein pieces on the rack in store.

“Hot girl fact: City Beach purchases their clothes from Shein and then resells it for about x3 the price under their home brand MRKT,” they wrote.

“We have to cut the Shein tags off items if they’re dumb enough to leave it on.”

The video shows multiple items – mainly women’s crop tops – on a rack in store with black tags clearly cut from the inside collar and ‘MRKT’ labelled price tags attached.

The tees are retailing in City Beach for $29.99 but the user has included photos from the Shein website, which show the exact same designs available for under $10.

Whilst Shein has been accused of stealing designs and artwork in the past, the TikToker’s claims have been supported by other users in the comments.

“Used to work there and heard this too,” one viewer wrote. “Also the MRKT sizes are all so small for no reason.”

Another user wrote: “Can confirm this is true I worked in their warehouse about 8 years ago and it was happening then.”

A third viewer claimed they had seen one of the shirts on Princess Polly online.

“Princess Polly and City Beach are owned by the same company/family,” someone else responded.

Some defended the company, saying they could have purchased items from the same wholesaler, whilst others weren’t convinced of the legitimacy of the user’s video.

“This is such bs this isn’t even City Beach,” one user wrote, prompting the creator to respond with a video walking into a City Beach store and finding the items on the rack.

“Looks like City Beach to me,” they captioned the clip.

“No wonder why City Beach always has huge online sales,” someone joked.
