New Zealand Prime Minister and IRL angel Jacinda Ardern is set to join Australia’s National Cabinet tomorrow to discuss the possibility of opening up the borders between Australia and New Zealand — creating a “travel bubble” between the two nations.

Australia and New Zealand have done an admirable job — save The Ruby Princess — of keeping the coronavirus pandemic under control after enforcing strict lockdowns.

“If there’s any country in the world with whom we can reconnect with first, undoubtedly that’s New Zealand,” Morrison shared in a press conference last Thursday.

“We have similar trajectories. Their restrictions have been far greater. Our case response has been the same, if not better, than New Zealand.”

In a statement, New Zealand Foreign Minister Winston Peters shared: “The idea of a bubble with Australia was floated two weeks ago, and this is an example of the sort of action that could happen within it, while always ensuring the protection of public health.”

“Officials in both countries are considering all aspects of the trans-Tasman concept, and planning how this could happen more broadly,” Peters added.

Both governments have emphasised the negotiations are likely to be a lengthy process. This will not stop me from manifesting a winter trip to the land of the long white cloud.
