A unique waterfall called Woy Woy Falls that is located at Brisbane Water National Park in NSW draws tourists from far and wide – however, there’s one disgusting catch that many people don’t know about.

While the waterfall certainly is pretty, in particular the cliffside infinity pool that sits under the falls, it’s actually full of sewerage water – which includes faecal matters.

“The water comes from a rubbish disposal nearby, definitely be careful putting head underwater,” one person wrote on TikTok in regards to the brown colour of the water.

Another commented, “It’s a nice spot, but don’t swim in it after rains as linked to run-off and has lots of faecal coliforms.”

And while TikTok comments should often be taken with a grain of salt, there actually is a waste management facility a few kilometres away that shares natural waterways with Woy Woy Falls.

However, even the sewerage warnings aren’t keeping tourists away. Woy Woy Falls remains busy, with hundreds of tourists snapping photos every day.

Woy Woy Falls is a 40 minutes drive from Avoca beach. Once you arrive at Brisbane Water National Park you’ll need to head down the “Woy Woy walk” track to get to the falls. Turn right when you see a sign that says Tunnel Track then turn right on a small track when it looks like you’ve hit a dead end. When you come across a small creek, cross it and you will be at the top of the falls. The entire track is about 2.8km each way.
