You can now satisfy your pepperoni-pizza cravings with a press of a button and a handful of spare change, thanks to Australia’s first pizza vending machine that’s made its debut at North Sydney’s Aldi Corner Store.

The Pizzabot is the first of its kind to be designed and manufactured in Australia and was created in collaboration with Bondi start-up Placer Robotics.

A TikTok video showing the Pizzabot in action, pumping out restaurant-style pizzas, has reportedly racked up over 35,000 views from excited shoppers. Consumers will have the choice of a Pepperoni and Italiana flavour, and the square pizza costs $8.99.

While one may expect a vending machine pizza to look a bit grim, the pizzas shown on the video look surprisingly delicious. Matt Lipski, Pizzabot Founder and Managing Director has attributed this partly to the fresh, high-quality ingredients they use, like buffalo mozzarella, fresh basil, gourmet salami and 48-hour rise dough.

“Our custom oven, which reaches temperatures as high as a wood-fired oven with digital precision, guarantees the perfect crispness, taste and look of each slice, every time,” Lipski said.

Lipski explained that the concept behind the pizza bot “was to give time-poor consumers restaurant grade pizza that is quick, delicious, healthy and affordable.”

He added: With their contemporary format and focus on the highest quality, local ingredients at an affordable price, it was clear from the beginning that the Aldi Corner Store was our ideal collaborator to launch Pizzabot in Australia.”

Many viewers of the TikTok video seem to be salivating at the idea of the Pizzabot’s offerings, with one commenter joking that they “will be catching flight from Melbourne to Sydney for that one for sure…”.
