Aziz Ansari has announced a two-date run of Australian shows for June 2019, marking his first appearance in the country since 2012.
The modern comedy icon will perform at Melbourne’s Palais Theatre on June 3rd, with a second show scheduled for the Sydney Opera House on June 4th.
In early 2018, Ansari was accused of alleged sexual misconduct with a photographer who he was on a date with. Since then, the comedian has slowly reemerged onto the scene, in which his stand up content has featured reflections on the allegations.
“There were times I felt really upset and humiliated and embarrassed, and ultimately I just felt terrible this person felt this way, but you know, after a year, how I feel about it is, I hope it was a step forward. It made me think about a lot, and I hope I’ve become a better person,” said Ansari at a February gig.
Over time, Ansari has amassed huge critical acclaim for his stand up work, as well as his long-running role in Parks & Recreation and his own Netflix sitcom Master Of None.
