The couple exchanged vows in an intimate ceremony at Luminaire in South Melbourne, surrounded by friends and family who had no idea of their plans to tie the knot that day.

“When your childhood friend has a surprise wedding. Congratulations Locky and Irena,” one guest wrote on Instagram.

The couple announced their engagement in June last year, after Locky proposed at the Mackenzie Falls at Grampians National Park.

“Mrs Gilbert has a nice ring to it,” they captioned the post announcing the impending nuptials.

The loved-up couple purchased their first home together a month earlier, and welcomed a puppy called Odin a month after their engagement.

Their Instagram feeds have featured the pair travelling across Australia since their Bachelor appearance, biking, hiking and caravanning their way around the country.
