No needing to ask your mum to whip you up some bangers and mash for dinner, because you can now get it in pie form from Banjo’s Bakery Café.

Last month, the hallowed bakery announced that they would be giving away a year of free pies to one lucky chap who came up with a banging idea for a new pie to grace their Signature Pie Menu, and now the winner has been revealed: a golden brown, flaky bangers and mash pie.

Joining their other signature flavours, the bangers and mash pie will sit on the menu alongside flavours like chicken parmigiana, double cheeseburger, and Tasmanian scallop pies.

Hitting the menu today, this scrumptious new flavour is chock full of Aussie beef sausages smothered in a rich brown gravy with green peas throughout, and then topped off with fluffy, buttery mashed potato. And, of course, it comes in the compact form of being in a flaky pie crust.

Banjo’s Bakery Café CEO, Jessica Saxby, said that the new flavour will be the perfect on-the-go “solution for a satisfying meal where consumers can enjoy their hit of meat and veg in one bite!”

On creating the new flavour, Banjo’s Bakery Café Product Development Manager, Marcel Schnitzer, noted that they try to bring a bit of nostalgia in their signature pies, as “we want to create an emotional connection between our food and customers.”

“We hope that the Guess the Flavour competition encouraged Australians to come together at the dinner table (hopefully over a pie) and enjoy reminiscing on their favourite flavours of the past and present,” he closed with.
