The infamous and iconic Barnaby Joyce and Amber Heard feud has a new development, with the former responding to Heard’s hilarious tweet from yesterday.
Six years after the bizarre moment that saw Joyce threaten to put down both of her dogs, Heard finally got a slice of tongue-in-cheek revenge on the politician. “Meet the newest member of the Heard family, Barnaby Joyce!” she tweeted on Monday, December 27th, accompanied by a cute picture of the scruffy version of Joyce.
And to Joyce’s credit, he’s taken it pretty well. He told The Australian that he feels a “real sense of accomplishment” to be the inspiration for the pet’s name. He obviously also made sure to get a jibe in at the actress.
“I get a real sense of accomplishment that I’m still in her head long after I’ve forgotten about them,” he said. “Obviously, I now rate above Johnny Depp.”
The feud extends back to 2015 when Heard and her ex-husband Depp entered Australia with their dogs, Pistol and Boo, breaking the country’s strict quarantine rules for animals in the process.
Joyce, who was then the Agriculture Minister, was highly vocal in criticising the pair, insisting their two dogs needed to “bugger off back to the United States” while warning that they would need to be euthanised if this didn’t happen.
Little Pistol and Boo luckily survived and now they’ve been joined by doggy Joyce. It’s a fact that lots of Aussies have been finding incredibly satisfying. “Solid trolling,” wrote a Twitter user. “We can smell the burn from here,” wrote another. “In retaliation Barnaby will have to name his next two kids Pistol and Boo,” was another person’s very fair response. Imagine being this Barnaby Joyce dog. He’s now going to be such a celebrity down his local dog park.
