Barnaby Joyce has returned to his position as the leader of the Nationals Party aka he is now the deputy prime minister.

As The Guardian report, Barnaby Joyce will return defeated former leader Michael McCormack in a tight contest this morning after years attempting to reclaim his party’s leadership. Queensland Senator Matt Canavan put forward a spill motion at a partyroom meeting this morning.

Joyce resigned as leader and deputy prime minister in 2018 following claims he had an affair with a former staffer. Support for Joyce nosedived after the revelation that a sexual harassment complaint had been made against him to the National Party.

“There was a spill motion put forward. The spill motion was carried. We had an election. And Barnaby Joyce has been elected leader of the National party at a federal level,” Nationals party whip Damian Drum confirmed.

“And will therefore be going through the various situations that he has to go through. He has to go through a process now to be sworn in, to have all the conversations, to talk to the prime minister, and effectively get on with the job of representing our people.”

I am by no means an expert in the political field but a man that looks this much like an amphibian can not be trusted to wield so much power.
