Understandably, Prince Philip’s death at the ripe old age of 99 has dominated news headlines since it was announced late last week.

The husband (and third cousin, but that’s a whole other story) to Queen Elizabeth had been sick for some time before he passed away at Windsor Castle.

The Prince’s death has led to a variety of tributes from across the globe, but undoubtedly the wackiest is the one currently doing the rounds on TikTok.

It all started when Radio 1 Dance, a substation of BBC Radio 1 in the UK, cut to the news of Prince Philip’s death in the middle of a thumping dance track.

It’s safe to say the contrast between club music and the serious announcement was rather jarring, and it didn’t take long for TikTok to take notice of the conflicting tones.

Now, dozens of users have made videos mixing techno music with the news of the Prince’s death and the rest, as they say, is history.

While we’re not sure it’s the most sensitive way of memorialising him, there’s no denying that it’s the most entertaining.
