Back in 1994, the internet was exciting and new – and if something told you to click your mouse, you damn well did it, most likely to the soundtrack of Superunknown.

The first banner ad simply asked the below question: Have you ever clicked your mouse right HERE?

It was an AT&T advertisement that sent the viewer to the below video ad (rather advanced for 1994) narrated by Tom Selleck that promised the future that we basically have now. Except nobody is sending faxes.

NB: The year is incorrect in the title

According to Marketing Inside Group, the ad had a whopping 44% click through rate – which is unheard of these days.
