We’ve entered finals week and there are just three housemates left in Big Brother’s house; one “O.G.” Reggie, and two “newbies” Johnson and Taras.
Reggie won the third season of BB back in 2003, Johnson is the self-proclaimed “super fan” and Taras is the challenge beast who has smashed multiple records during his time on this season of the show.
All three housemates have a solid shot at this year’s crown – but Sportsbet has pinned Reggie with much better odds than Taras and Johnson. The punting site currently has Reggie sitting at $1.42, Johnson at $3.75 and Taras at a whopping $10 return. That means if Taras wins, a fan who bet $1 on him will receive $10 back, a fan who bet $10 will recieve $100 back and so on.
Sportsbet has somewhat of a good track record for predicting the winner of Australian reality shows – especially before the season starts airing. Many people have speculated that this is related to insider trading and that punters who have confirmed information about who wins the show, place their bets early. However, Sportsbet strictly prohibits this behaviour and anyone found betting with inside information will be strictly penalised.
Taras low odds of winning come as a surprise to many fans. While Reggie and Johnson are loved for their personality by a lot of viewers, Taras has arguably played the best game. He has won eleven challenges – the most of any BB housemate ever, and he has won the last five consecutive challenges.
Last night, Taras won both nomination challenges, allowing him to pick who was evicted from the house and who he’d take to the final three with him. Taras surprised viewers when he picked Brenton to be evicted, rather than Johnson, who he has been trying to squeeze out in the previous eviction
While the Sportsbet odds suggest that Reggie has the best chance of winning, voting is still open and the winner won’t be decided until tonight. The winner will be announced during the live finale, which will air tonight, July 12th at 7.30pm. You can vote for your chosen winner here, and votes must be submitted by 7:30pm AEST.
