Australia’s biggest music industry conference and artist showcase, BIGSOUND Festival is back for its 16th year, and has just revealed its first lineup of over 60 acts who’ll be performing across 17 Brisbane venues this year.

Last year saw 7000 people from Australia and overseas descend on Brissy’s Fortitude Valley, and this year promises to be bigger again when it all fires up from September 5-8.

The first lineup announcement has just dropped, and includes some of the most talked-about local prospects including Winston Surfshirt, Alex the Astronaut and Ruby Fields, plus the return of rising stars like Hockey Dad and The Creases.

International guests this year include UK-via-Aus rockers Splashh and New Zealand’s Critics Choice-winning outfit Bespin, joining other Aussie acts like Mansionair, Polaris, Hatchie, Mama Kin, Total Giovanni, Baker Boy, Haiku Hands and The Cactus Channel.

There are plenty more on the full lineup below, and excitingly every band will now have the chance to play twice across the four nights, making it easier for us to catch every single band we’re hoping to see. Plus all of them will be eligible to win a share of the $100,000 Levi’s Music Prize, making this year an especially exciting one for every band on the bill.

“Once again we’ve been spoiled for choice when it comes to the range of new and exciting talent being showcased at BIGSOUND,” says Maggie Collins, BIGSOUND Programmer. “I know these acts will follow in the footsteps of those that have come before them and achieve the international recognition that they deserve.”

Collins of course refers to the string of big names like Courtney Barnett, Flume, RUFUS, A.B. Original, Tash Sultana and plenty more who have showcased at BIGSOUND in years past in the process of building their hugely successful careers.

To get in on the act and see the next crop for yourself, tickets are on sale now, with single night passes $45 and four-night passes just $85. If you want access to the conferences, delegate portal and countless label parties on top of the showcases, Access All Areas passes can be had for $470, with special rates until July 31.

Check out the full lineup below, and head to the BIGSOUND site for tickets and more details.
