Known by many as the ‘mother of the jazz’, the late Billie Holiday will be celebrated in style at Ladies Sing The Blues, a one-off fundraising event at The Sydney Opera House this July.
Seven of Australia’s finest divas including Lady Cool, Amanda Easton and Liza Ohlback will be backed by a live band, taking us through the life and music of ‘Lady Day’.
The two hour special will coincide with the 100 year anniversary of Holiday’s birth, and celebrate hits like ‘Strange Fruit’ and ‘God Bless The Child’, but will also remind us of her tragic personal life.
The concert will raise funds and awareness for Beyondblue, the Australian organisation working to reduce the impact of anxiety, depression and suicide throughout the community.
$5 from every ticket will be donated to the charity.
Thursday July 23 at The Opera House. Check it oot!
