Bindi Irwin has sensationally detailed her fractured relationship with estranged grandfather Bob, saying he had “shown no interest” in spending time with their family.

As per 7News, it started when Bindi posted pictures of her father Steve, husband Chandler, and father-in-law Chris on Instagram this Sunday. “Appreciation post for the three most incredible fathers in my life,” she wrote. “These extraordinary men inspire me and I love them so very much.”

When a fan then asked Bindi about her estranged grandfather, she was forthright in sharing her opinion on him. “He has returned gifts I’ve sent him after he opened them, he has ignored my correspondence and from the time I was a little girl he has ignored me, preferring to spend time doing anything else rather than being with me,” Bindi said.

“He has never said a single kind word to me personally. It breaks my heart but it is not healthy to engage in an abusive relationship.”

Bindi also revealed that her mother Terri still attempts to reach out to Bob, sending him Christmas gifts, but she supposedly receives no response from him. The family had been supporting Bob financially since 1992, Bindi claimed.

She continued: “I hope everyone remembers to be kind to one another but most of all care for your own mental health. I have struggled with this relationship my entire life and it brings me enormous pain.”

Now aged 81, Bob has been estranged from the Irwins for years now but allegedly has tried to reconnect with them in recent times after the birth of his new great-granddaughter, according to reports. The last time he was pictured in public with the family was back in 2007 at a memorial for his late son Steve at Australia Zoo.

7News say they have attempted to contact Bob for further comment.
