A gig so intimate from a band so assured is a rare thing to encounter indeed.

Bloc Party, the classiest indie rockers around, have announced a one-off gig at Oxford Art Factory in order to celebrate the release of their new album Hymns.

Given the band’s remarkable pedigree, the new release already has a lot going for it, and the opportunity to see the Brits in such a cosy setting will undoubtedly appeal to their legions of fans.

At this stage the only way to get tickets is to enter a competition which requires you to list your favourite Bloc Party song and explain why you love it, so start coming up with your most creative answers. Oh, and just try and ignore the fact that it’s been 11 years since Silent Alarm came out and that we’re all getting horrendously old.

Bloc Party play Oxford Art Factory on Friday January 8. To win tickets, enter the competition here.
