A year after Parasite took the world by storm, writer and director extraordinaire Bong Joon-ho has nearly finished two follow up films.

Yep, much to the relief of the BongHive, we won’t have to wait long until the Oscar winner blesses us with new movies.

Bong made the revelation on The Director’s Cut podcast, where he was interviewed by Knives Out director Rian Johnson.

He explained that he has written one film in Korean, and another in English.

“It feels like I’m splitting my brain in half left and right writing these two scripts, but I finished one last week,” he said.

Bong went on to reveal that the Korean film is set in Seoul and has “unique elements of horror and action”.

Meanwhile, he has not yet categorised the English film, saying: “it’s difficult to define the genre of my films. The English project is a drama film based on a true event that happened in 2016. Of course, I won’t know until I finish the script, but it has to be set half in the UK and half in the US”.

As if two films were already enough, Bong is also working on a Parasite TV series that will be filmed in English.

Set to air on HBO in the US, the show is being developed with Adam McKay, director of films like The Big Short and Vice.

As reported by Dazed, the series will expand on some of the ideas that ended up on the cutting room floor from the original film script.
