Jared Leto is planning to wipe our collective memory of the sweet Jordan Catalano with his role as the villian Niander Wallace in Blade Runner 2049.

Now director Denis Villeneuve has revealed the role was originally designed for David Bowie, before his passing.

“Our first thought [for the character] had been David Bowie, who had influenced Blade Runner in many ways,” Villeneuve told Metro UK. “When we learned the sad news, we looked around for someone like that.”
