In what comes as very sad news, Brunswick East’s Pie Shop will be closing its doors this month.

There is nothing that hits the spot quite like a perfectly crafted hot pie. And owner Matt Wilkinson knows that better than most people.

Come Grand Final Day at the end of September, the shop will see its final day of trading at their Nicholson Street shopfront.

As per by Good Food, it has been reported that the pie purveyors will cease to trade as Wilkinson has been unable to negotiate lease terms.

The shop has now been leased to another party.

A statement has been released via their official Instagram account, thanking all who have supported their humble shop at some point along the ways.

It begins, “Pie shop to close September 26th.”

“Our Journey in Brunswick East is about to end, it’s with sadness that we will be closing up @thepieshopmelb on Grand final day at 2pm September 25th.”

“Thank you to the countless regulars and pie community for supporting Wilko aka @mrwilkinsons thorough the last 12 years he has been on this street. Due to unforeseen circumstances we’ve been ushered on from what has been our home for the last 5 years as the Pie Shop.!!!”

“Never fear though we’ll have plenty of The Allen, Shazza & Brian over the next few weeks for you to stock up on. We look forward to seeing you soon. Thank you for all your support, cheers to hot pies. The pie shop team. Xxx”

It’s not over yet though, you’ll be able to ensure that you get your Pie Shop fix before they close up by pre-ordering at the link here.

If one thing’s for sure, we’re excited to see what the culinary delights the legendary Matt Wilkinson will deliver our beautiful next!
