We recently purchased a new home and it was time to replace our sofas to match our new surroundings, however, this has always been something we’ve dreaded. With two young kids, we have never had the option to “have new things” knowing that our furniture could quickly be destroyed by sticky fingers! However, with our youngest now 4, we were somewhat confident we could instill a “no food on the couch” rule and so we decided to go big.
In saying that, shopping online for a sofa – probably one of the most expensive pieces of furniture we’ll own – required a huge amount of trust. We needed to work out our checklist first – type, style, size, people to sit and lifestyle (hello kids). It became daunting really quickly but we didn’t feel that type of dread when we jumped on to the Castlery website. We absolutely loved the fact that we could see customer views with their own styling of the Castlery pieces so that it would allow me (a not very visual person) to use my imagination when it came to styling it for our home. Best of all, the furniture did not break the budget. We found the Jonathon sofa perfect for us.They are trendy, stylish, comfortable and perfect for our family of four who love to entertain. We opted for both the Jonathan Extended Sofa with ottoman ($3,089AUD and the original Jonathon sofa ($1,999AUD) with fabric.
Aside from the seating arrangements (you can also choose with or without an ottoman) the collection comes in three colors: creamy white, dark granite and zenith blue. We chose the creamy white colour.
This sofa is incredibly comfortable and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the material. It has a medium firmness. There is no sinking into these sofas so if that is the feel you’re going for, these sofas are not for you. Castlery does offer swatches and fabric samples, but we went all in without testing first. Thankfully we were happy with the material and it feels very soft!
In addition to the sofas, we also added two of the 360 Amber Bouclé Swivel Chairs ($649AUD). These boucle chairs are beautiful! I love the feminine curve design of this armchair. It is so delicate and complements the Jonathon sofas well. They are a true boucle texture instead of the teddy texture others advertise as boucle. They swivel easily and the color is a true ivory. The pillow adds a designer touch.
We completed the set with the Vincent Coffee Table set, Oak ($429AUD). I didn’t think I would love this coffee table set as much as I do. It is extremely versatile as you can separate the coffee tables and they are extremely light and easy to move. This means you have the options to use them as side tables, for snacks and beverages or place them in different spots to change up your decor.
We got all our furniture extremely fast – less than 2 weeks. The best thing about delivery was the white glove service. Two men delivered furniture to where it needed to be placed, unboxed and assembled it within 20 minutes and took away the empty boxes on the way out. It was the most headache free furniture delivery I have ever been a part of.
Does it hold up well with the kids? There are no sharp angles, and it’s pretty low to the ground, if anyone tumbles off. We already had a little accident (sick child with a bug) but it was really easy to spot clean and you wouldn’t even know where it happened!
