With the US Supreme Court overturning Roe vs. Wade and effectively outlawing abortion, celebrities are speaking out condemning the move.

Celebrities across the US are condemning the US Supreme Court overturning of Roe vs. Wade, essentially ended protection for people seeking abortions and giving states rights to ban it completely.

This follows much uproar on social media after leaked documents alerted people to what the court planned to do. Since 1973, Roe vs. Wade had constitutionally protected abortion rights in the United States.

Shortly after the announcement, celebrities took to Twitter to denounce the move.

“Today, the Supreme Court not only reversed nearly 50 years of precedent, it relegated the most intensely personal decision someone can make to the whims of politicians and ideologues—attacking the essential freedoms of millions of Americans,” said former US president Barack Obama.

“I’m past disgusted w/ my country and their constant inability to protect one another’s right & keep their word. How u overturning the wrong things? So many things to overturn that make sense. But this is what you chose??” Keke Palmer wrote.

Yungblud tweeted: “the Supreme Court just ended a constitutional right to obtain an abortion, saying it should be left to each state to decide, this is horrible! they just took the right to decide about someone’s own body away! we need to speak out. your body, your choice! #AbortionIsHealthcare.”

Author Stephen King weighed in: “It’s the best Supreme Court the 19th Century has yet produced.”

Also tweeting out his displeasure was Andy Cohen, who called this a dark day in the history of the United States.

“What a sad day for this country. Guns for everybody and no reproductive rights. Twisted. Twisted.” he said.

“‘Women can’t decide what to do with your bodies anymore and we watched The Purge and felt that’s a great way to handle gun control’ – the supreme dumbass court.” said comedian Chris Redd.
