Chargrill Charlie’s is expanding its empire in Sydney with a new branch in Coogee and it’s taking a trip down memory lane to do it.

There must be something in the chicken this year because we seem to be getting a lot of chicken-related food stuffs. First the was McDonald’s adding chicken items to its menu followed by Nando’s releasing a truffle and bacon chicken burger, and now we have Chargrill Charlie’s expanding its chicken empire with a new shop.

The family-run institution has been a Sydney favourite for many years and now it’s going back to its roots with the opening of a new branch in Coogee, which is where Chargrill Charlie’s opened its first shop back in 1989.

The new Coogee shop, which is located on Coogee Bay Road, will open on Saturday, November 28th, and Charlie’s plan on celebrating this big launch by taking a trip down memory lane.

The store have its own DJ and there will be 80s themed merch giveaways galore on the day. But perhaps the biggest thing about the launch that foodies will be most interested in are the prices.

In keeping with the 80s theme, the Coogee shop will be returning to its original 1989 store prices for the launch. That’s right, that means we’re getting some great deals, like an extra large seasoned chicken for $10.90 and half chicken and chips packs for $9.90.

That’s a pretty damn good deal.

“I still remember the day my parents opened the doors to our first shop all those years ago, so it feels really special to open our new store in Coogee – it’s like we are coming home!”says co-owner Ryan Sher. “We really wanted to tap into all those magical memories to launch the store, and celebrate the era that helped build Chargrill Charlie’s into what it is today”.

So for those who are keen to enjoy the beach and some chicken afterwards, it doesn’t get much better than getting some Charlie’s at Coogee.
