Jeffrey Winder was found guilty of misdemeanour assault in February. Winder was on trial for punching a racist in the face during the Charlottesville riots.

The jury announced determined that 50-year-old Winder would serve zero jail time, and would have to settle a colossal $1 fine.

Kessler had attempted to hold a Unite the Right conference in Charlottesville, Virginia – the day after Heather Heyer was murdered by a man who rammed his car into a group of counter-protesters.

Winder and others showed up to stop Kessler from making his speech, which resulted in Winder punching Kessler in the back of the head. Check out the footage below:

Winder faced up to a year in jail or a fine of $2,500 for the assault. So this fine sends a comprehensible and important message.

Winder’s attorney had this to say “He (Kessler) had an incredible amount of nerve coming in front of the people of Charlottesville after the pain, suffering, and terror that he brought on the community. He should never be allowed to show his face in town again, The circumstance of this case is obviously not something that I don’t think has ever been seen before: We have a guy (Kessler) who is going out of his way to take, make profit off tragedy, and that’s really what this is about”
