Yeah, you heard that right! Chris Lilley is totally back with a brand new show.

You may remember Chris Lilley as the guy behind We Can Be Heroes, Summer Heights High, Ja’mie: Private School Girl, and Jonah From Tonga. Lilley also copped a roasting for racial insensitivity in 2017. This was for a blackface music video he created for a track dubbed ‘Squashed N***a’.

This time last year, we announced that Lilley was shooting a new series on the Gold Coast. This news came with excitement from Queensland Premier Anastasia Palaszczuk, and is said to have brought 6.35m into the Queensland economy.

Well now, Lilley is back with the ever-bizarre new series Lunatics. The 10-part series introduces us to six brand new characters, including the 7’3″ uni student Becky, Quentin, a pony-tailed real estate agent with dreams of being a DJ, as well as the suburban located former porn-star Joyce, and Jana the pet psychic.

The concept behind the series is that all characters are ‘special’ in their own way. The series’ official synopsis reads: “As eccentric and odd as they all are, they are scarily recognisable types and they teach us that it’s ok to just be you.”

Other characters cast in the series include Keith, the fashion retail veteran with a burning sexuality crisis, and Gavin, a young boy who’s set to become a future earl of an English country estate.

Lunatics is the first project for Lilley since Jonah From Tonga back in 2014. The series can be streamed on Netflix from Friday, 19th April.
