Chris Pratt has been accused of being homophobic because of an alleged anti-LGBTQ church that he reportedly attended, however, the church’s founder has gone on the record to confirm that Pratt was never a part of the church.

Rumours started circulating that Pratt attended Zoe church, which is a Hillsong adjacent church. The church has previously come under fire for being anti LGBTQ.

Pratt has clarified the rumours, stating that they are all hearsay.

“It has recently been suggested that I belong to a church which ‘hates a certain group of people’ and is ‘infamously anti-LGBTQ.’ Nothing could be further from the truth,” he wrote. “I go to a church that opens their doors to absolutely everyone. Despite what the Bible says about divorce, my church community was there for me every stop of the way, never judging, just gracefully accompanying me on my walk. They helped me tremendously offering love and support. It is what I have seen them do for others on countless occasions regardless of sexual orientation, race or gender.”

Futhermore, New Zealand-Australian Hillsong founder and former pastor Brian Houston has taken to Twitter to support Pratt and stated that he has never been a member of Hillsong. However, he did confirm that Pratt attends Zoe church.

“The weird thing about all the media regarding Chris Pratt and Hillsong Church is that it’s built on a falsehood. I am so grateful for Chris’s bold faith in Jesus. But he is not now, and never has been a member of Hillsong Church,” he wrote.

Pratt has spoken publicly about his support of the LGBTQ community in the past, as shown in a tweet that has gone viral.

During the video tweet, Pratt is asked, “There are people out there that don’t want LGBTQ community to have equal rights and that’s them trying to hurt that community. They’re not trying to make life better for them. They’re trying to keep them from having their life be made better”

The Jurassic Park actor responded, “I believe that the role of government should be to make sure that every single man woman and child regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation no matter what they all have access to their inalienable god given rights. And they are protected. Their health is protected. Preventing them from being hurt or standing in the way of them being terrorized by their fellow citizen.”
