Comedian Chris Rock won’t be talking about this year’s Oscars until he’s properly compensated.

According to Palm Springs’ Desert Sun, fans were sorely disappointed when Rock refused to spill the tea at his Fantasy Springs show on Friday night.

“I’m OK, I have a whole show and I’m not talking about that until I get paid,” Rock told the crowd. “Life is good. I got my hearing back.”

The Oscars incident – for which Smith was banned from attending the awards for 10 years – was perfectly timed for Rock, who was just days away from kicking off his Ego Death tour around the US.

Starting with six shows at The Wilbur in Boston, tickets immediately began selling out after the Oscars.

According to the Desert Sun, tickets were initially selling for $51 to $71, but resellers began listing them for “exponentially higher” rates. Secondary ticket seller TickPick showed a 641% increase in prices.

Rock briefly addressed the incident at his Wilbur show on April 30th, saying he was “still kind of processing what happened.”

“Other than the weird thing, life is pretty good,” Rock said towards the middle of his two-set show.

Rock also took aim at Hilary Clinton, the Kardashians and Meghan Markle during Friday night’s set, according to the Desert Sun‘s report.

He also made light of corporations attempting to embrace diversity, raising daughters, being single again, and cancel culture.

Whilst he is apparently expecting a payday soon, it was unclear whether Rock was referring to an exclusive deal or a civil lawsuit. According to TMZ, either is possible.

Rock will bring his Ego Death tour to Australia in August.

Will Smith, meanwhile, has been making headlines for reasons unrelated to the Oscars.

Recently unearthed footage of Jada Pinkett Smith filming Will on Instagram Live has been doing the rounds again, making fans feel “uncomfortable”.

The clip, which resurfaced on Reddit, begins with Pinkett Smith promoting her Red Table Talk show, before the camera panned over to an unhappy Smith – who did not take kindly to being recorded.

“You know (therapist) Esther Perel is coming to the table,” Pinkett Smith said, before focussing the camera on her husband. “Would you say she has been instrumental in you and I redefining our relationship?”

“I would say don’t just start filming me without asking me if you could,” Smith responds.

Pinkett Smith turned the camera back on herself and told fans she is “still dealing with foolishness”. She then asked Smith: “Would you say that (Perel) helped us heal the hurts that we have caused between one another?”

“My social media presence is my bread and butter, okay… So you can’t just use me for social media,” he replied. “Don’t just start rolling,” he added. “I’m standing in my house. Don’t just start rolling.”

“It’s like he’s responding to a weird fan harassing him. It’s so uncomfortable to watch,” one person wrote after viewing the clip.

“His facial expressions say it all,” wrote another.
