Coles has caved to public demand and have announced that they will continue to give out their reusable plastic bags for free. The supermarket conglomerate intended to start charging 15 cents for their reusable Better Bags on August 1st but have since backflipped on this decision.
Greenpeace has hit back at the Supermarket, stating “This decision makes a complete mockery of Coles’ claim to want to reduce plastic waste and is a betrayal of the millions of their customers who want the supermarket to do the right thing in favour of a vocal minority,”
Also whilst we’re here, can we talk about how stupid and useless that new Coles “mini-collectables” campaign is. Not sure how fruitful cutting down on plastic bags is if you’re just going to release plastic landfill toys, wrapped in plastic, displayed in a plastic case.
