Wanna celebrate your local re-opening with a beer on the house? ‘Course you do! Well, Melbourne’s Stomping Ground Brewery is giving away 5000 free beers!
The pubs are about to re-open – and the excitement is, frankly, palpable. It’s time to reacquaint ourselves with that beloved, oh-so charmingly dingy watering hole where everyone-kinda-knows-your-name.
Well, to celebrate this momentous occasion, Collingwood brewery Stomping Ground is shouting 5000 free beers for the Melburnian masses. It’s all part of what they’re calling their ‘Stomping Ground 5K” initiative.
The offer is currently being supported by a lineup of Melbourne’s best pubs and bars. There are 50 venues participating right now, including north-side spots Neighbourhood Wine, Stomping Ground, Old Palm Liquor and Bar Romantica, along with Whitehart in the CBD, and the south’s Union House and Mount Erica Hotel. You can find the full (and growing) list here.
Naturally, there’s a caveat or two: first you have to hold on just a bit longer until the pubs start reopening from June 1st (a Monday, ironically). Plus there’s the little matter of restrictions which still determine that to drink you must also eat a meal (hello to our old friend, the pub schnitzel).
Oh and, in case you’re starting to froth over unlimited free beer, Stomping Ground have made it clear they mean one drink per person.
Still, this is a very opportune moment to try out some classy beverages made by a quality neighbourhood brewery.
For the uninitiated, Stomping Ground Brewery is a little enterprise run from a converted Collingwood warehouse by craft beer gurus Steve Jeffares, Guy Greenstone and Justin Joiner.
Their beers are exotic yet deliciously accessible – ranging from bitter, hop-heavy IPAs to formidable 11.4 per cent barley wines, from refreshing pale ales to intense milk stouts.
And with Stomping Ground Brewery giving away 5000 free beers, it’s an awesome chance to tap into these flavours. But it’s only available for the first 5000 people, so you’ll have to hurry to register your interest online. Info will be sent out on Friday May 29th as to how you can redeem your first beer.
