Australian comedy promoters More Talent are getting set to launch comedytorrent.tv. With a program featuring Nat’s What I Reckon, Gen Fricker, Jordan Raskopoulos and stacks more, the new venture will present the first ever comedy club shows livestreamed on Twitch.
Don’t worry if that’s a bunch of words you don’t understand, we’ll break it down. Twitch is a live video streaming service that has become increasingly popular in recent months. Per the company’s own copy, Twitch is a place for people to interact and “make their own entertainment together.”
More Talent has teamed up with Twitch and Century Venues to curate a series of livestreamed comedy shows. The most significant detail is that the shows will all take place in a real theatre in front of a live audience. They’ll be concurrently streamed online, allowing anyone who’s not able to get to the Sydney venue to join the audience.
The series includes three shows in total, which will take place across consecutive Monday evenings. It kicks off on Monday, July 27th with a lineup of Fady Kassab, Alice Fraser, The Stevenson Experience and Neel Kolhatkar. The Sydney-based Kolhatkar is a comedian and actor with a mere 74 million YouTube viewers.
Show two, on Monday, August 3rd, will feature Ciaran Lyons, Demi Lardner, Jordan Raskopoulos and Cameron James. Raskopoulos is the co-creator and frontwoman of comedy-rock act The Axis Of Awesome, and just generally bloody excellent. Show three is happening on Monday, August 10th, boasting Tommy Dean, Gen Fricker, Craig Quartermaine and Anthony Salame on its lineup.
Prominent YouTuber Nat’s What I Reckon will host show three, while Daniel Muggleton and Tahir will oversee shows one and two respectively. Each show will be filmed in front of a live audience at Sydney’s Factory Theatre. The shows will all be streamed live to Twitch, which is free to access. To make the deal even sweeter, 100% of event ticket sales will donated to local charities.
