The full program for Sydney Comedy Festival 2020 has now been announced. A total of 220 shows will occur during this year’s festival, which runs from April 20 until May 17. 

Leading the charge are US comedians Nicole Byer and Ms Pat, British comics Daniel Sloss, Adam Kay and Stephen K Amos, Ireland’s David O’Doherty and rising Kiwi star Melanie Bracewell.

Not to be outdone, SCF20 will also present shows from a number of the biggest names in homegrown comedy including Dave Hughes, Fiona O’Loughlin, The Chaser’s Andrew Hansen, The Umbilical Brothers, Tom Gleeson, and Lawrence Mooney.

Representing Aussie comedy’s new guard are the likes of Joel Creasey, Gen Fricker, Aaron Gocs, Geraldine Hickey, Steph Tisdell, Simon Taylor, Lizzy Hoo, Nazeem Hussain, Matt Okine and stacks stacks more.

SCF20 will also bring back the popular FRESH program, which puts the spotlight on 11 emerging acts. Festival-goers can see the likes of Kevin Jin, Hot Department, Floyd Alexander-Hunt and Jamal Abdul for just $15-20.

Performances will take place in two dozen venues located across the city and surrounds. While a lot of the big names are performing at staple venues like the Enmore Theatre, Comedy Store and the Sydney Opera House, there’ll also be a series of major performances at The Concourse in Chatswood.

Showcase events are happening at the Bondi Pavillion (April 27), USYD’s Manning Bar (April 28, May 12), Cremorne’s Hayden Orpheum (May 5) and the Grounds of Alexandria (May 4). SCF will also be combining an ensemble of the festival’s funniest and freshest acts in a series of showcases at the Comedy Store from April 23-May 16.

Marrickville’s Factory Theatre will be home to the Koori Comedy Showcase on May 14. Promising a night of Australia’s deadliest comedy, the lineup includes Bill Makin, Benny Eggmolesse, Cy Fahey and Jacob Keed.

Plus, not one but five Galas will kick off this year’s festival. Lineups comprising “the Festival’s funniest international stars, Australian legends and next-big-things in comedy” will hit Parramatta’s Riverside Theatre, The Concourse, State Theatre, and Enmore Theatre between April 20 and 22.
