Community broadcasting has been spared this evening following the the Federal Budget revealing that the Government will continue funding vital community broadcasting programs.

The news comes as a massive relief to community broadcasters. Last week the Federation Government’s Commission of Audit recommended in its review that the Government save $17.5 million with cuts to the community broadcasting sector, which prompted the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia torelaunch their Commit to Community Radio campaign.

“This is a fantastic outcome for community radio and TV stations across the country. There are going to be millions of listeners and volunteers breathing a big sigh of relief tonight,” said Adrian Basso, President of CBBA.
