The cast of Community have done another socially distant reunion thing, only this time there’s more at stake than lockdown boredom and making people laugh.
Lockdown has been tough for many people these last few months but one thing that’s helped folks get through it is the sheer number of virtual reunions involving the cast of several popular shows, whether it’s to raise money for good causes or because they were bored and wanted to do something nice for their fans.
Case in point: the cast of Community recently did a virtual reunion where every single one of the original cast (except Chevy Chase) got together on Zoom to do a virtual table read of a beloved season five episode (‘Cooperative Polygraphy’ for those curious Human Beings) in order to raise money for World Central Kitchen and Frontline Foods.
That was a super fun reunion and most of the cast have decided to do it again, only this time the tone was less about having fun and more about democracy. Literally.
Joel McHale, Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Yvette Nicole Brown, Jim Rash, Danny Pudi, and Ken Jeong reunited on Zoom once again on Friday for another online get together in what was an unofficial Community reunion that served as a PSA to get folks to vote for Joe Biden in the 2020 U.S. presidential election (which is all the rage these days).
While the cast were careful were not to call this a Community reunion, the video was shared with the #HumansForBuden hashtag, which is a nice little reference to the creepy Greendale Community College mascot on the show.
Despite the seriousness of the PSA, it was still a fun little reunion that had everyone basically playing their Community characters (right down to the costumes) and screwing around.

Hell, Pudi even did the fourth wall-breaking thing his character Abed does all the time: “We’re all kind of dressed like our characters but nobody’s called anybody by name yet.”
“We’re in a commercial for a presidential campaign! That’s why nobody has a name, we had to skirt the studio’s permission!”
Democracy may be at stake in a few days time but at least we got to have some lighthearted Greendale fun along the way. We’ve now gotten six seasons and two Zoom calls from the Community crew, surely that movie is next up on the cards.
