Conchata Ferrell, best known for her role as Berta on Two And A Half Men, has died aged 77.

Two And A Half Men was an absolutely terrible show and one wonders how it lasted as long as it did give what a disservice it was to comedy. But for all of the faults with Two And A Half Men (and boy are there many), the one (and only) consistent good thing about the show was Conchata Ferrell stealing every scene as the wisecracking housekeeper Berta.

So it’s especially painful to report that Ferrell has sadly passed away on Monday, October 12th, at the age of 77.

According to Deadline, the veteran actress died as a result of complications after a cardiac arrest. It is reported she died peacefully while surrounded by family at Sherman Oaks hospital.

A veteran actress both on the TV screen and the stage, Ferrell has appeared in several big name shows including L.A. Law (where she scored an Emmy nomination), E/RGrace and Frankie, and Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

Outside of the TV screen, Ferrell was also an accomplished stage actress who gained success off-Broadway as a member of the Circle Repertory Theatre and has appeared in productions such as The Sea HorseHot L BaltimoreBattle Of Angels, and Picnic.

But Ferrell is undoubtedly best known for her role of Berta, the shit-talking housekeeper on Two And A Half Men. Even when the show is at its most insufferable, you can always count on Ferrell to deliver a quip that makes everything go down a little easier.

Ferrell’s Two And A Half Men co-star Jon Cryer paid tribute to her with a heartfelt series of tweets following news of her death.

It is reported that Ferrell, who most recently appeared in Netflix’s The Ranch and the upcoming film Deported, moved into a long-term care facility months ago following a cardiac arrest.

To fans wishing to send flowers out of respect, Ferrell’s family request that donations be made to TheLovelandFoundation.org and ASPCA.org instead.

Our deepest condolences go out to Conchata Ferrell’s family and friends during this difficult time.
